Disease in the body isn’t just caused by germs. More and more we are learning that mental, emotional and spiritual states can greatly influence our health. If something in our lives is out of balance, our physical well-being is at risk.

The understanding of the Old and New Testaments and the scriptures of the East comes with the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the prophets and great teachers wrote of their mystical experiences, they had to describe them in certain concrete terms. Some of these terms become abstract, for instance, in the writing of Ezekiel. But nevertheless, when one is experiencing these manifestations of the expansion of the inner flame, one recalls the words of Ezekiel, who beheld God as the “fire infolding itself”—the same revelation as the I AM THAT I AM that Moses beheld.

I was recently impressed by a psalm of David, Psalm 46, in which he gives a mystical understanding of the Tree of Life as the I AM Presence and the flow of the crystal-clear energies of the crystal cord. He says, “There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.”

This verse is seen by the secular person as a commentary on outer conditions, but the mystic understands that the river is the river of consciousness. It is the river of life that emanates from the Source.

“The streams whereof shall make glad the city of God.” The streams of this great river of life, which is spoken of in the last chapter of the Book of Revelation, have to do with the coming forth of the great river of life from the I AM Presence, the descent of that river into the heart and then its distribution, in what you might call rivulets, to the seven centers of being.

And therefore we have the “making glad of the city of God.” The city denotes the state of consciousness. It denotes the space of one’s self-awareness, hence the aura. City is the dwelling place. The flow of the river of God’s consciousness makes glad the city of God, or the manifestation of God that is the aura. This is right in line with our discussion of the intensification of the aura.

“The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.” These tabernacles of the Most High are the chakras, the seven centers that are referred to by John in the Book of Revelation as the seven churches.

The message of the Lord Christ to the seven churches given to John the Revelator is actually a release of a certain frequency of energy and consciousness for the quickening of the seven centers within the temple of being. These seven churches were also, of course, physical places that could be named and that had people who were forming a nucleus of Christianity in the early Church. We find that the mystic in every faith always sees that which is described outwardly in scripture as that which is concurrently taking place on a parallel line within.

Looking at this psalm further, we see that David is describing the entire experience of God coming into his being, occupying his four lower bodies, and the great flow of the river taking command of the disturbances, the discord, the day-to-day problems that register in these vehicles of consciousness. He says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” This in itself is a decree. It is an affirmation that God is in the midst of the trouble, the troubled waters of the emotions and the water body.

“Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” He is speaking about the great conflict that occurs in the mind, the emotions (the desire), the physical body and their interaction—the cataclysm that occurs in consciousness when we contact God, because when God comes into our being, he rearranges our atoms and molecules.

David speaks of the raging of the forces of anti-Reality within. He says, “The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.” This melting of the elements of rebellion, of stubbornness, of disobedience is accomplished by the alchemy of the Holy Spirit and its descent into the heart of David.

In 1958 Mark L. Prophet founded The Summit Lighthouse.  Mark met Elizabeth Clare Wulf in 1961 and they were married two years later. On February 26, 1973, Mark Prophet died of a stroke. He reunited with God in the ritual of the ascension and is now known as the Ascended Master Lanello.

Elizabeth Clare Prophet shares some of her thoughts on Mark Prophet:

“I knew Mark for twelve blessed years. He gave me so much love, so much wisdom and a sense of the universal self that impels us to the heights of our ultimate reality.

“What is Mark’s secret?

“He read their hearts. He knew their pain. He gave comfort to the meek and wisdom to those who could hear it. Mark was and is “a man for all seasons.”

“He will open the door and reveal to you the eternal flame your Maker sealed in that chamber. And he will tell you that that flame is your flame of immortality that you must tend daily with your own special prayers.

“Mark Prophet is a servant of God and of the God who lives within you. At the conclusion of his final sojourn on earth, he attained union with God and became one with the immortals.

“If you walk with him a mile or two, he will teach you and love you until the hour of your soul’s fulfillment.

	This was “Camelot,” deep in the heart of the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. Purchased in 1978 from the former Claretville Seminary, the Summit Lighthouse was headquartered here until the end of 1986.
	The original two-story mansion belonged to King Gillette who commissioned architect Wallace Neff in 1928.
	Entering the front gate, you drive down a little road lined with tall, fragrant eucalyptus trees.
	Around the bend you cross a small white bridge where swans still swim…just as when the Summit Lighthouse called it home.

In 1986, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, the Summit Lighthouse and Summit University Press moved to Montana.

“One day some years ago, I was very much impressed with a statement of Paul. It came out of the Bible to me like letters of living fire:

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

“I saw the word “must” and I said, “This is a mandate from heaven. God is impressing this upon me in this hour. I do not know why.”

“And so I asked my secretary to type it on a piece of paper. I taped it onto my mirror, and every day I would read those words.

“The weeks and the months passed, and about six months later I went through the experience of observing the transition of my husband, Mark Prophet, the founder of The Summit Lighthouse and our first Messenger.

“I went through the experience of him being taken from me suddenly, in a moment. And as I tarried with him through the weekend in the hours of his transition, I observed his resurrection, and at the conclusion of three days, in the morning, I saw him ascend.*

“I did not see him ascend with my physical eyes, but I saw him with my inner eye. I stood next to him as Elisha stood next to Elijah, and I was able to see him and commune with him and realize that he was taken up in consciousness, in the acceleration into the permanent Being of God.

“I felt the most magnificent joy and exhilaration, and I was filled with the Light of that experience.I came home and I gave my witness of that experience to our children and to our staff.

“And when I returned to my room, I noticed on the mirror the words that were there, which had been burning in my soul those months.

“As I read them again, “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality,” I realized that the call of the ascension is not a choice. It is the demand of the very Life that is in us. It is the demand of the fire in our hearts.

And at a certain moment—we know not when it will be—we see our loved ones and fellow disciples on the Path, and suddenly God calls them and takes them by the hand, and we see them going up in that whirling action of the sacred fire.

Ascension – A Mandate of Cosmos

I had the gentle comfort then in my heart that this truly was the plan of God, as Mark had told me that plan ten years before. I knew that it was the mandate of the cosmos that this soul ascend.

“I knew it even as I had known when I was just a teenager and I stood on the front steps of a church that it was also true for me. No one had ever given me any teachings on my personal ascension, but as I came out of that church one day, I felt a presence around me. I looked up, and I could see the light of the sun and even a greater Light. And I exclaimed out loud, “Why, I have to make my ascension in this life.” From that moment I knew that I must return to God.

“It is a teaching that no one had to teach me and no one has to teach you. You know it in your soul, because God has placed that mandate there—the same mandate that has carried all of the saints who have already returned to the heart of God.

“This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

“May these words also become letters of living fire for you—and perhaps a statement that you place somewhere you will see it each day.

“When you realize that you must put on immortality, that you must put on incorruption, it becomes the impetus for your daily working of the works of God—steadfast and unmovable.”

* Mark Prophet suffered a sudden massive stroke early on a Saturday morning. He was taken to the hospital and continued on life support for two more days, never regaining consciousness. He ascended on Monday, February 26, 1973, and is now known as the Ascended Master Lanello.

Extensively renovated in 2008, King Arthur’s Court is today the central focus of worship for the Summit Lighthouse organization.  In addition to a spacious chapel, the hub of our spiritual community includes fellowship halls, a small chapel, classrooms and more.

King Arthur’s Court is literally in use everyday. During quarterly conferences, it is quite common to hear attendees from around the world sharing their experiences of this sacred land in many colorful languages.
